"I headed to linear fisheries with my grandad over the festive period for our yearly Christmas trip. With Brasenose 2 having such an amazing stock of fish we decided this would be the lake of choice. With the first 24 hours of the session being very slow fishing on the deck, I decided a change of tactics was in order. So zig rigs was the change of tactics which turned my session around. Within only 15 minutes of the zigs being out the first rod was away! Over the course of the next couple nights I managed to land 41 carp with 7 over 30lb up to 34.12. A lovely way to round up an incredible year."

"winter as always provides some of the toughest challenges in carp fishing, my advice for winter is :
1 - If you can locate fish with sonar, check depth and temperature of water.
2 - Once you a find a promising spot feed the area with little amount of bait, possibly drenched in attractive liquids based of fishmeal and use a bigger hookbait compared to the free offerings.
3 - Protect yourself from the cold weather with proper winter clothes and always keep eyes open when on board a boat"

The stint on there couldn’t have started any better with catching the fish I wanted the 'big lin' on my very first night. It setup the months angling very well, I had 38 fish in total and here are some of the standout captures. "The second day of the trip I was booked into swim 11. A well-known swim this time of year for doing a few bites. The weather was looking a lot better with a change in wind and a rise in temperature. Whilst I was setting up I noticed a few fish show at long range so I knew straight away where to fish. I wrapped the rods up to 37 wraps which was bang on where I’d seen the shows. As the fish were already there I started off with only 10 spombs of bait over the rigs. 45 minutes later and the first rod was away with an upper double common. A perfect start to the day. Before I dealt with the fish I put the rod straight back out with 4 spombs over the top to make the most of this feeding spell. And as I was slipping the first fish back, the same rod was away. After a slow and steady fight , the second fish was in the net. Another one of Durleigh’s Jewel’s. This mega 32.8 common!"
